Spring Cleaning?
We Need Your Help!

We are planning a rummage sale fundraiser this June 2012 to help raise money for Jeremy. As you know Jeremy has kept an amazing positive attitude since his injury. He spends his days working hard to regain every bit of movement possible. The past two summers he has been at Project Walk in Carlsbad, CA for a 3 week intensive rehabilitation treatment. These trips to Project Walk are so important because they are able to teach him the exercises necessary to keep improving. Not only do they teach him to be physically stronger they also keep him mentally strong and we always see a renewed sense of hope after a trip to Project Walk. As time passes he improves and masters what they have taught him and needs to keep moving to the next level! Which is why we need to send him back again this summer. He never gives up and we can never give up on him or let him down.

Of course, medical insurance won't cover this type of rehab. Which is why we thought it would be a great idea to have a rummage sale this summer in order to help cover the costs. We really hope you will help us by donating things that you no longer want or need. You can fill out this form and either arrange for pick up or to drop off. We are planning to have the rummage sale in early June, so we would like to start gathering things in May. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Together we can make a difference!

September 2, 2009 was the day that our family was rocked to its core. This was a family still celebrating and elated by birth of a healthy baby girl, Jeremy became an uncle just seven weeks before and would become a father for the first time by the end of the year. It was a time of such joy and happiness and when the accident happened we all changed. Jeremy suffered a catastrophic injury to his cervical spinal cord c6 and c7 injury leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. In the days that followed, we could see light was still burning and he was like an ember on a fire that we kept fanning and hoped and prayed that he would recover. It was tough, really tough these days were so difficult. I wished it was just a bad dream or that I could turn back the clock just one time in my life and change this. Our friends and family were all there to help us and get us through this and they are still here for us. Little by little the flame grew and the humor and wit came back. Jeremy has something so admirable and special inside a spirit that just keeps on fighting, hoping, trying and believing. I have thought so many times, if this were me I couldn?t be so strong. He comes from such incredible stock, but still I have to say where does this strength come from? Each day you rise to the challenge and you keep your positive attitude. What inspires you? This is an individual committed to recovery and driven to recover. Someone who never gives up and keeps on doing his best. This is a person worth getting behind and taking him as far as he can go. Jeremy with your attitude and dedication, anything is possible. I 100% believe in you. You will get there!

Jeremy continues to do his best every day! He still goes to therapy 3 times per week, works out at home twice per week and is now using a manual wheel chair about 100% of the time. Exercise is so important for Jeremy. He has been able to make two trips each for three weeks to Project Walk in Carlsbad, CA. Project Walk is an intense rehab center for spinal cord injuries that thinks outside the box.

We love Project Walk, just wish medical insurance would pay for this extremely beneficial rehab. With each trip to Project Walk Jeremy comes home with a new exercise regime and always both physically and mentally stronger. There are so many great things going on at Project Walk that this always renews Jeremy's hope and makes him fight to get as strong as he can. They are able to show him so many things that he can do and how to do them. This July they had him stand and he was even able to balance his body for a few seconds... a definite highlight!

We are so proud of Jeremy. It's a really tough road, but I for one am inspired by his strength and courage. Things are moving forward and we are so thankful to everyone who has reached out to our family this past 2 years. We hope that you are all well and thank you for checking in to see how things are going. Sorry we have not been the best bloggers but you can always send us an email if you want to know more information.

On September 2, 2009, Jeremy Kvamme went for a motorcycle ride with his uncle and some friends. They were all heading home after driving out to Forest River when Jeremy must have misread a curve in the road and went into the ditch. He was initially unconscious and then his uncle was able to wake him. When he woke, he said he could not feel his legs and we all feared that he was paralyzed. He was rushed to Altru Hospital where they did surgery on his spinal cord. Two weeks later he was transferred to Craig Hospital in Colorado, where he spent the next 3 months. Jeremy suffered a catastrophic injury to his spinal cord, C5 / C6 Asia A complete, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. He has very limited use of his hands and no use of his legs.

Jeremy wanted to thank everyone for all they have done, so many people have gone above and beyond what he would have ever expected. He is thankful for being able to get to Craig Hospital and thankful everyone who stayed the night with him when he wasn't doing well (Mom, Auntie C and Laurie), everyone who visited from near and far in Grand Forks and at Craig, thank you to Aunt Adele for your unwavering support everyday at Craig (and thank you for being pushy when I need it), thank you to everyone who worked behind the scene to get things done, checking on me, helping me, bringing in food, sending thoughtful cards, fruit, flowers, emails that keep him connected to everyone and in the loop, phone calls, visits, t-shirts, donations, support and gifts and your positive words of encouragement, hopeful attitudes and prayers that have helped me through this. He says he has most wonderful friends and family any guy could ever hope for. He knows that he has the absolute best support team and he says thank you so much for all the love you have given. He won't let you down.. He will work as hard as he can to recover. Thank you Dave for picking up my bike and transporting it after my accident. Thank you Harry and Kevin for coming to the hospital that night of my accident. Thank you to everyone out there reading the website, it means so much that you all care. I love you all...
